MiraCosta College, Our Host
MiraCosta College is honored to host the Latino Book & Family Festival for the third consecutive year. At MiraCosta, our mission is to provide superior educational opportunities and student support services to a diverse population of learners with a focus on their success.
As a Hispanic Serving Institution and community partner, MiraCosta College is excited to collaborate with the Latino Book & Family Festival as we strengthen the economic, cultural, social, and educational well-being of the communities we serve. Committed to providing a strong, supportive, and authentic environment where difference is valued, respected, encouraged, and honored, MiraCosta College seeks opportunities for engagement both across the campus and within our region.
Among the many successful programs in place to better serve our Latinx student population, the Puente Project provides the support and counseling to assist students as they NAVIGATE the myriad of challenges they may face. Furthermore, the MiraCosta College Office of Advancement has established several scholarships and grants to support students in overcoming financial barriers often associated with obtaining a higher education.
Students, staff, and visitors enjoy a friendly atmosphere, and the feeling that we are all here to help one another. While at our Oceanside Campus, bask in the sun, take in the stunning views stretching from the mountains to the sea, enjoy the lush lawns, a relaxing fountain, and unique architecture. Best of all, the Oceanside Campus offers easy access from the 5 and 78 freeways plus ample free parking.
A REQUEST FROM EDWARD JAMES OLMOS
Dear Supporters of Literacy,
Please join us in our work to empower underrepresented communities. Our goal is improved literacy throughout the Latino community. Our goals at Latino Literacy Now, a 501c3 nonprofit, are a variety of initiatives including educational, financial, and health literacy. Our cause is improving lives, both professionally and personally.
For this 2019 event a team of community leaders, educators, librarians, and Award Winning Authors have united to ensure that the Festival is well organized, well attended, and has a great array of workshops, activities, and entertainment.
Thanks and I hope to see you this September 28, 2019!!
Sincerely,
